Tinta Fresca Festival
As a contemporary orchestra, the Philharmonic seeks to promote modern music. Therefore, the Orchestra created in 2008 the Tinta Fresca [Fresh Ink] Festival, a project that provides a fertile ground for Brazilian composers in search of their own voice and style.
How does it work?
The music scores submitted for the Festival are analyzed by a judging panel comprised of renowned professionals on the national scene. They select the songs that will be interpreted by the Philharmonic in a concert open to the public.
During the week of rehearsals, the composers closely follow the development of their pieces and can talk about them directly with musicians, conductor and judging panel. As a prize, the winner of the Festival receives a formal request for a new composition to be premiered in a future Philharmonic season.
Must know information
- Only native and naturalized Brazilians can apply.
- The submitted piece of work must not have been previously performed in a public concert.
- The maximum duration of the composition is 15 minutes
- The instrumentation used must be within the following parameter:
3333-4331-tmp + 3-hp-cell/pno-cds.
- Only symphonic works can be submitted (concertos, vocal or choir works will not be accepted).
- Composers can submit only one composition.
- There is no age restriction.
